Nicolas Baril
Weight Room Teacher
Nicolas’s love for movement and sports has been a constant in his life. From playing football for over ten years—including at the USports level—to becoming a university football coach while earning his degree in Sports Management. Post-student-athlete lifestyle, Nicolas wanted to rebuild his relationship with fitness to find healing and balance, which led him to join Where I Thrive. Starting as a volunteer, Nicolas found his spark again in the weight room, and wants to share this energy with everyone who walks through the door.
Nicolas believes that feeling strong is the foundation for lifelong movement and confidence in your body. Movement should be a fun, challenging, and accessible part of the human experience, and he brings this belief to all his classes. In the strength room with Nicolas, you can expect a wide range of exercises to improve mobility and functional strength, leaving you feeling energized and empowered.
Professionally, Nicolas facilitates para-sport programming in schools across the Ottawa region. When not at WIT, you can find Nicolas cycling with his dog, Willow, paddleboarding and hiking the trails in Gatineau Park, travelling, or coaching youth sports. Nicolas can’t wait to share his lifelong love for exercise and knowledge of strength training with the Thrive community!
