Barre Teacher

Shelia began practicing barre in 2014 and quickly fell in love with the workout. After years of running and high impact activities she needed to better respect her body’s limitations. Barre is a no impact, full body workout incorporating strength training, core work and stretching. The way it has changed the length and strength of her muscles has made her a huge fan and advocate. My decision to teach was, in part, due to the studio’s core value, always be a student. The benefits of the method, and the incredible energy and sense of community at the studio was something that she wanted to be a part of and share. Teaching has been a gentle reminder that we are never too old to take on new challenges, to learn something new, to push the boundaries of our comfort zones. Sheila continues to learn from every practice and the students challenge her to bring her best game, best energy, and of course best playlist, to class, each and every time. 
What is Sheila’s favourite exercise? THIGH WORK, in shouty caps because I love it THAT MUCH, with back dancing a close second. Too hard to pick the best songs to barre to because there are way too many that are perfect for our tip and curl, and the only thing I love MORE than Where I Thrive is music… and dancing … and maybe coffee… especially since she owns Planet Coffee!
